So recently I rewached the Ironman trilogy which was my favourite growing up. Whilst watching I saw Tony Stark's Robot Companion "DUM-E" and asked myself the same question i asked myself at the age of 8, "Is it possible to make DUM-E real?"
First things first :
To start this Project, I researched and created a Mood-board from ideas and references from people who have done similar projects such as "Hacksmith Industries". This also lead me into blocking out an initial idea which I 3d modeled , added detail and animated to show a proof of concept:
Once Completed:
I then decided to fit cuts into each individual parts for 120kg servo motors so that it can also be later used to control a larger arm by using the servo's Built-In encoders.
Fabricating:
I began to slice and 3D print the models (which took weeks).After the long waiting process, i was then able to apoxy and strenghten the joints before adding the elecrtrical and mechanical componants.
